7月9日下午，应我院邀请，来自美国佛罗里达大学的方志辉教授为师生做了一场名为“Academic Language and Disciplinary Learning/Teaching”的报告。讲座主要围绕学术语言的概念和教学模式进行。方教授首先界定了什么是学术语言，提出了将书面语分为日常语言、抽象语言和隐喻语言三种类型的三分法，对学术语言的特点进行了概括。针对学生容易遇到的阅读问题，提出了基于5个“E”的教学法模型，对指导阅读教学实践具有借鉴意义。讲座结束后，方教授与老师们进行了热烈的互动和讨论，讲座在愉快的氛围中结束。

方志辉,  普渡大学博士，现任美国公立常春藤佛罗里达大学教育学院正教授、博导、语言和读写教育专业负责人。主要研究方向: 语言和读写教育、英语教师教育、功能语言学。共发表百余篇论文及著作。先后在本专业及相关专业的20多种国内外著名刊物上担任专栏主编、编委、及特约审稿员。曾获普渡大学教育学院杰出博士论文奖、美国英语教师协会科研新星奖、佛罗里达大学年度优秀教师奖、佛罗里达大学科研基金会教授奖、及佛罗里达大学杰出教授奖。主持和参加过美国教育部、美国国家科学基金会、中国教育部人文社科基金、佛罗里达州教育厅、行业学会及私人基金会等机构资助的多项科研及师资培训项目。

Learning in any modern discipline requires at least some interaction with written texts. These texts are constructed in lexical, grammatical, and discursive patterns that students often find unfamiliar and alienating. These patterns, commonly referred to as academic language (AL), are functional for construing knowledge and value in the discipline. This talk (a) offers a new conception of AL, (b) describes the challenges AL presents to students in disciplinary reading and writing, (c) illustrates an evidence-based pedagogical routine for addressing these new language demands, and (d) discusses the implications of the pedagogical routine for teachers and teacher educators.
